4 Ways To Be A Better Human Being To Others
Author’s Note: This post is both a cheat and a self-reflection throwback kind of thing. December tends to be a hectic month for me every year because of Christmas, but now, added on top of it is trying to settle down in a new country and a new job. So, having space and time to write these past weeks haven’t been easy. To those still coming back here to read, thank you and I apologize for the lack of updates. Anyways, during my last days in KL while packing, I went through an old hard disk and found some really cringy pieces of writing that I’ve done in the past. Needless…

Portfolio Snapshot: Fear Can Be Your Friend
Ho boy, October was something huh? Trade wars, budgets, declining oil price, scandals, jitters, nerves, Halloween. It’s been an eventful month on the market. Analysts are predicting the end of the bull run and further market correction as investors becoming skittish. Day traders and technical players swoop in, taking advantage of oversold positions to reap some good profits. We continue to see that spill over into November. Let’s take a look at the portfolio. How To Read My Portfolio Snapshots
I got a question the other day from a friend. He’s having trouble understanding my portfolio snapshots. Ask and ye shall receive. Here’s a brief guide for you! I’m going to explain column by column using my September snapshot as a reference. Only because it’s both the latest and the one I feel captures my holdings accurately. I’ll skip the “Stock” column because that pretty much doesn’t need any explaining. The second column “Last Done Price” indicates the closing price of the stock at the time of writing. The “Average Price” column indicates my average buying price of the stock over time. This number changes as time go on and…

September Portfolio Snapshot: My Malaysian Stocks Within Expectation
We’re three months away from a new year, holy cow. Time really does slip away when you’re sitting around trying to figure out what to do with your life. I’m aware it’s been a while since I did a portfolio update. Frankly, I’ve slipped up on monitoring the stock market. Choosing the stocks that I did with a long-term perspective means I don’t have to watch the market diligently. Of course, just because I don’t have to doesn’t mean I shouldn’t. Ignorance never equals bliss when it comes to the stock market. Nonetheless, Malaysian stock prices have been trending steadily upwards since my last post. Let’s dive in. Portfolio Snapshot as at…

Portfolio Snapshot: Volatility Roller Coaster
Exam day is looming around the corner and I’m currently in the thick of it. The last leg. The home stretch. No biggie, I’m most definitely not barely hanging on by a thread and drowning in course material that I most definitely did not half-ass for the better part of this year. Yes, most definitely not. Maybe one day I’ll write a post about the merits of sitting for the CFA exam and whether it’s worth the emotional and mental turmoil that comes with it. While I’m staving off another imminent mental breakdown (those are fun, aren’t they?), let’s review the portfolio, shall we? The stock market had some exciting…

Portfolio Snapshot Post-GE14
Welcome to the new Malaysia! On the back of a historic election in Malaysia, I found myself in a fairly decent spot, equity-wise. This is a snapshot of my portfolio as of today, 17 May 2018, one week after the election results were announced and 4 days after an eventful market open that saw many BN-related stocks see a huge drop (yikes, MYEG) & Mahathir friendly companies see a rise in market value. Prior to the election, the market was fairly volatile despite trending upwards since January. By a stroke of luck, my timing was just right as I managed to grab some stocks at a lower cost (not as…
